IM(humble)O you can't go wrong with Vango. For a British summer they do the job at a reasonable price.

Last year I spent a week cycling with two cycle tourers in France who each had a Banshee 200 and found them cramped for solo use. There's no headroom to allow sitting up inside the tent.

It is cheap enough and will accomodate two people but I'm sure that there's roomier three person tents out there.

Terms like '3-season' don't get you very far: all it really means is that it's probably not a good idea to take it into the Cairngorms in winter.

It's more important to consider whether it has a usable amount of headroom. A 3-season tent is a fat lot of good to you if you haven't got space to put on a jumper without touching the sides of the tent. A 100cm is a decent height but it slopes off quite sharply at the tail end. I would have serious reservations about buying it without sitting in it and taking off/putting on some clothes etc.

If you have a Decathlon within travelling distance, the T3 Ultralight Promight be worth considering.

I bought a Litchfield Apache 3 years ago, and I have spent some 60 odd nights under canvas in it: even a couple of weekends in November and December.

Lois and I used it for a couple of Music festivals, a few weekends away, a week in Wales, and a week touring the Norfolk coast on our Bikes last year, and it was more than adequete for the two of us and all our gear.

I've just brought a Vango Tempest off ebay for £47.00 arrived the other day it looks looks great and weighs in at 2.6kg approx.

I've read good things about vango tents thats what made me go for this one, hope it lives upto the positive reviews

I've just bought the new 2010 Vango Banshee 200, but then there is only one of me going to be staying in it. I saw one in gooutdoors and it seemed tall enough to sit in (i'm only 5'8"). Comparing all different factors on the net, I found the banshee to be the best. By budget was the main limiting factor, but even some of the expensive tents were heavy or pack sizes bigger than the banshee. Overall for fly/ as one pitching, weight (2kg), pack size, price, quality it seemed to cover everything i needed.

Will know how it fairs for sure when i go on a mini cycle trip with it over easter.

I have used the Vango Spectre for the last couple of years. Goes up outer first so you can keep (well try to) the inner dry. In good weather it can be put away all in one.

I use it on my own and its got loads of room for panniers etc. Without luggage there is loads of room for two.

Worth a look?

I'm with Ricd11 - I got a banshee 200, which is ideal for 1 given the weight and cost. I got a 2009 model which isn't pitch in one, but I did get it for £50 - so a good saving over the 2010 model.

I've also got an omega 200 - which I think is plently big enough for 2 people, and is quite cheap. It weights 4.5kg which is quite a bit - but to get lighter, you'll need to spend a lot more money.

We've got one of those....excellent for car camping with 2 people.

If having to carry it we use a Vaude Taurus Ultralight. Not the lightest 2 man tent in the world, but pretty bomb-proof.

Not tried myself but I've heard very good reports of the Big Agnes Seedhouse. Strange name, but loads of room in a very lightweight package.
