I got this used bike (not important) and after few short rides one of the pedals fell. Fortunately I was not moving fast and was in a parking lot. At a closer inspection of the cranks and pedals I saw that the way the thread is cut to screw together the pedals on the cranks, as the pedal/crank rotates in the normal forward way it would unscrew the pedal from the crank. This seems to me to be a goofy design solution as the logical one (IMHO) would be the opposite. Are the Tern designers so bad, am I missing something, what's going on?

My Tern Link has, as far as I am aware, the same crank and pedal threads as any other bike I've had or have. The right side pedal should have a regular (right-hand) thread but the left pedal should have a left-handed (reverse) thread, otherwise they will unscrew in use due to precession.

See https://sheldonbrown.com/pedals.html#threading for more information.
