A couple of hundred motorcyclists rode about town in an apparent halloween protest at lack of space to perform stunts on Saturday and I got caught in the middle.

There were some stories in the papers..

They tore past as I waited to turn right at a red light (from Brockley Rd towards Honor Oak station).

They came from behind and took a minute or two to pass, but it felt like five with all the near misses, screeching tyres last second swerves and wheelies going on.

I wanted to edge into the shelter of a traffic island four feet to my right but decided to stop where I was 'cos some of these bikes were zIpping between me and it.

Shaken not deterred I carried on riding and heard a smaller group approaching as I went past the Crystal palace mast.

They left a fair few skidmarks but luckily enough I was carrying a spare pair in my bag.

I saw them once more at least am hour later from the relative safety of a Streatham flat window, bigger group again.

Anyhow, that was my ride last saturday night.

That page won't display but it sounds like those nobbers who put videos of themselves pulling wheelies while racing along roads in London. I think they call themselves 'Bike life'. Poor things, not enough space for stunts. I would suggest they perform their stunts about 2ft from the edge of this:

Plenty of space there.....:okay:

Odd thing to protest over. Would make more sense to protest over ****in speed cameras which are one of the biggest nuisances the motorist faces. I would go into the comparatively unenforced rules on tailgating and other forms of dangerous driving but that has been done to death already.
