I am currently in teruel and need to get to valencia. The road route looks like one I have encountered in Spain before. An N road runs parallel to the motorway which is liable to run out for no reason. I see there is also a Via Verde (ojos negros) which goes all the way to Sagunto on the coast. Does anyone have any experience of this?

No but the gallery at https://deandar.com/bicicletas/bicicleta-verde-ojosnegros makes me think it's similar to the Via Verde I have ridden - mostly firm stonedust tracks with some tarmac sections. Easy on a hybrid or roadster or tourer and probably OK with some caution on a road bike on 23s or wider.

Interestingly, http://cycle.travel/map?from=Teruel&to=Valenca switches back and forth between the VV and the N road (apparently based on which is shorter until you get near the end when I guess the N road gets busier) and then uses some back roads to pick up the Vía Xurra for the final stretch. I'd probably stick on the VV for easier navigation unless it became too rough.
