2nd Commute of the year. It's blowing a gale and chucking it down.... I'm still going out on the bike! Not sure it's the brightest thing I've decided to do though!

I just bottled it and am resorting to the bus. The shame! Stay safe.

It was not too bad in Swindon, only 60mph gusts and torrential rain but at least it was warm.
My main problem this morning was a slight twinge in my back, caused by 10 days out of the saddle and a "thank you" wave to a courteous bus driver.

Wind, rain, hail. I really struggled this morning....and that was just walking the kids to school! Not back at work 'till Thursday, but I will be on the bike. I've only been out riding a couple of times over Xmas and I'm starting to feel unfit!

It's days like today when you walk into the office and the other people just look at you as if you're mad.

It was very gusty this morning, but the rain stayed away for the most part. My average speed was 4 mph below the norm but that could be the wind or Christmas excess!

Checked the weather f/c - Met Office's rain scanner said it'd be gone by 9.30 and, lo and behold, it went. So I took the MTB and went in powered by the wind. Going home'll be 'interesting' if it doesn't die down.

It was blowing a noisey gale in epsom this morning, but no sign of rain so thought, 1st day back at work - may as well start as mean to go on. Did become aware that I was keeping an eye out for falling branches and scaffolding etc, which I guess is not a bad thing. In London now and it looks plain grim out...

Oh well, new year, new resolve etc.

Yup, I cycled in after being woken up by the wind 4 times in the night. I got blown off at the traffic lights next to Streatham hill station but managed 16mph over London bridge WITHOUT PEDALING! ^_^

I live in Streatham and the sound of the rain battering my windows this morning was enough to put me on the train. If it makes you feel better the trains were awful this morning, so maybe you made a good choice!

Agreed Vike, definite 'resolve tester' this morning, especially as our pole-mounted bird feeder had blown over  But since I've put on a hideous (for me) amount of weight over Xmas I was determined to do it and managed to average around 9mph with the expectation of a jet-propelled ride home tonight

Took me 1hr 28 mins to get in today. 30 odd minutes slower than normal. An average of 10mph.
It was strangely fullfilling in a masochistic sort of way.

Good to See Browser is keeping the Fenland Tough Guy image alive and well!

Mrs Vike rang me up this afternoon and said "i'll come and get you if the weather doesn't improve. I don't want you riding home in the rain and dark!" ... Could have mentioned that at 6am when I left home!
