The message was simply "FREEMSG: Our records indicate you may be entitled to 3750 pounds for your accident. To claim for free ...." etc.
Accident? I've not had any accident. This must be spam. Perhaps people should be warned.

Reply with 'STOP' and they will not send anymore.

If they do, report them to PhonePay Plus - industry body.

You can also register your phone number with TPS (Telephone Preference Service). Costs nothing and will avoid marketing / sales calls.

I've tried replying with 'STOP' and some of the spam texts don't accept reply texts.

I still get 1-2 per month though all the legitimate business ones, like the banks and the AA etc, do stop stop when I reply 'STOP'.

I got one of these just before xmas, and although I had an accident a few years ago, I became suspicious because of it's context. I googled the number (not sure if it was the same number), and it turns out to be a phishing scam that's doing the rounds. Don't reply...

What I guessed. Anyway, if anyone on CC has suffered a recent accident and is seeking compensation, beware! So easy to be taken in!

So the scam has been doing the rounds for some time. Note that the number is different, but the amount of money offered is the same! Be careful.

How timely..i got 5 unsolicited texts this morning...
One from PPICLAIMS, thanking me for my application for a claim, which i HAVNT made. I then got a missed call and then a voicemail. Sod em.
Two from Candy mobile or similar, something about free texts or similar.
Two from someone encouraging me to get my free national Lottery tickets and another load of cobblers.

Now then...why now i ask myself. Never had them like this..maybe the odd one a year, but not 5 in one morning.

Is it co-incidence ? or is it connected with my application for a replacement passport i made a few days ago. Are the swines using my information (i gave my mobile number of course) to pass onto other agencies for profit ?
