TfL and Lazy Roadworks on the A316
Getting really annoyed with roadwork signs warning of closed off lanes being left out when the lane is open. Had one again today – dual carriage way, sign indicating that left hand lane (the nearside one) is about to close in 600 yards, then another that it will close in 400 yards, then a 200 yard reminder, so manage to get into the right hand lane only to discover that the left one stays open, and is now full of loads of undertaking cars (this section of road is 30mph, most drivers assume it’s 40mph so do 50mph…) f’ing really pi55es me off.
Seeing a lot more of this sort of thing everywhere at the moment. Seems to be a lot of work going on along the A316 in Richmond – this is a dual carriage way that links the M3 and the A4 in West London:
East bound – warning of closed lane and lane stays open, West bound, warning of closed lane, lane stays open , followed by another warning that the left hand lane is closed off ahead, only to find out that, once all the traffic has got into the right hand lane, that it is in fact the right hand lane closed – result, loads of lane jumping back to the left one, undertaking and a death trap for cyclists.
