Thank you camera, just got hit

I bought a camera after my last incident about a year ago and is still ongoing.

Well this morning a car came out of side road onto the main road and pushed me against curb and he also hit my elbow but no injuries sustained.

Well this time I had my helmet cam and will view it when I get home later.

The thing is I knew there would be traffic ahead and yes he was stuck on traffic so had a word.

All he kept saying was that he did no see me!

I had two exposure lifts on and one was on flash on my helmet which I pointed out to him. He just said that he did not see me.

This will be the first with camera that I am considering going to police with.

REalistically, if they didn't connect and no damage, they will just file it in the bin.

I had a very close call on my motorbike commute this morning also

I pulled up to a junction behind an Octavia, and just off to the right of it and near the centreline of the side road as I'm looking to turn right (as are they and they indicating). Catch a look at the driver in the door mirror who turned out to be a very attractive 20 something woman. Sit there for literally about 20 seconds as the traffic is busy in both directions. Then all of a sudden, she bangs the car into reverse and shunts back in a slight arc about 5 or 6 feet to turn left until the back of the car is level with my swingarm pivot and brushes my boot and elbow

All I could do is yell at her, and bounce the bike off the rev limiter to get her attention, she then drives off seemingly oblivious to how close she came to putting me and the bike on the floor (or bothering to check if she even actually connected with me.....This lad waiting to cross looks at me wide eyed as if to say 'I can't believe she just did that'

This is the second time I've nearly been taken out in about 3 months by drivers who don't use their mirrors when acting on impulse. The last time was an Audi TT sat in a traffic jam who got fed up of waiting and decided to do a U-turn as I was filtering past at 10-15mph

Well from the police documentaries, the police do seem to stop and prosecute drivers for due care and attention even if they don't hit anyone.

I have had this at work today, "what harm have they done".

It seems you can drive around badly as long as you don't injure anyone.

I got pinned in between the curb and the car and he did hit my elbow even though I did not sustain any injury.

I will try and post video later

Well that's all he said "I did not see you".

At least a sorry would have helped it I did not even get that.
From the perspective of a bad driver....

As a cyclist you are an inferior. => No need to apologise.
Insurance companies stress never to admit liability. => No need to apologise.
He didn't injure you => No need to apologise.
You don't pay 'road tax', don't have an MoT, aren't insured => No need to apologise.

In fact when a bad driver says "I did not see you" what that mean is "**** off pleb"

I think anyone who says "I didn't see you" should be automatically guilty of driving without due care and have 3 points and £300 fine.

The police don't have the time or manpower to deal with these minor incdents. Even in my accident, they really didn't want to even record it as I'd got up and walked away (did have shoulder damage that required surgery).

Crap happens, at least if you are injured, or have damage to the bike, you have evidence to sue the bugger.

I pay £85 PA to tax my motorbikeb (more than a lot of cars now). I also insure it and I pay duty on al the fuel I use. The only thing I don't pay for is parking charges.

This woman didn't stop to see if I was OK this morning even though she reversed into me and must have heard me yelling as well as the bike reving (the can is very loud on the rev limiter)...she just drove off

when I had my Giant Roadie nicked (still looking at least £800 to get another one to match it), they just gave me an incident number and that was the end of their involvement.

You have my sympathy... but this is cycling forum. My insight into bad drivers attitudes to motorcyclists is dated and shared elsewhere.

reminds me of an incident a work colleague recalled to me where he was on his motorbike in a tight and narrow car park and some chap decided he wanted a space behind him closer to the door of whatever shop it was, rather than continuing round and reversed towards my colleague who did much the same thing, rev the nuts off his rsvr to attract attention. A passer by knocked on the drivers window and shouted "ITS A MOTORBIKE, IT DOESN'T HAVE REVERSE!!!" and pointed at the several empty spaces in front of the driver who drove off slowly chuntering to himself

Nothing worse than cycling through traffic knowing that a high percentage just have not checked their mirrors, I now use my front light flashing in the morning, be it light or dark.

I think when it’s raining in rush hour it is the worst in my experience, cars moving between 5-10 mph not looking and forcing you into the pot holed gutter puddles, very mentally draining. Much prefer the early morning shift, hardly any cars and can pootle along.

That really is dependent on your local police force. The Met are perfectly happy prosecuting drivers if there was no collision but it was still seriously bad driving.
