It's all relative, come off a motorway onto a road that is 50 or 40 then even that seems slow.

I think it's mostly down to the fact that you have most of your field of view blocked off by the cage, so you can't see the parts of the road closest to you like you can on a bike. Of course, the road closest to you appears to move the fastest, so if you can't see it in a car but can on a bike, it'll look much faster on the bike.

Close to rear offside is not a place for a 2wheel user to hang about. This one obviously should have seen you but it might have needed a bit of movement in the seat to catch full field of vision in her mirror.

I live just off the A5 in Northants, much used by weekend bikers and more so if there's something on at Silverstone. Also my route to shops in Towcester or Dav.

Quite common to have a biker lurking in my rear quarter waiting an overtake opportunity. I, and any other motorist should both see and hear. If not and motorist moves out and/or brakes then, like the nearside of a truck, the trap can spring closed very sharply.

We were both stationary at the junction when she decided to reverse. A car in front of her went and we both shuffled forward. I saw her full face in the wing mirror when I was stopped behind her so the mirror was set properly, and we both sat there for enough time for her to do a sweep of the mirrors (which she didn't), I was also wearing high viz and bright red and white leathers, and the bike has a HID dip beam on when the engine is running so there was no excuse really.
She just didn't look either in her mirror or over her shoulder at all when waiting at the junction or when she got impatient and decided to head off in the other direction

Why does everyone keep saying things like this? Am I really that much of a danger on the roads? I must be doing something right if my parents are proud of my driving and parking skills.

I wouldn't worry about it Matthew. He's a) joking, and b) also being a James Blunt.

..actually wearing a hedcam recently has been weird...

I feel the need to wear it in town traffic because every ride there is at least one near miss/dangerous incident, but I have to get my head around it in so much as I don't want it to take over my thinking and spoil my enjoyment of cycling....I think I went through a period when I first got it of being conscious of it while I rode...now I am trying to forget I even have it on while I ride and delete the films as soon as I get back unless there was a serious incident.

It's a mindset....I mean...law of attraction etc...tempt fate...whatever??

dunno...but I think what I mean is that although it is a sad state of affairs, unfortunately in some areas it is a wise thing to have, but I want to forget its there so I can just enjoy the ride..

man I wish :ninja: drivers would just calm down:popcorn:
