... (and no, that's not a Spoonerism!) who followed me past the racecourse and onto the Relief Road just before 9 today. Kept a decent distance in the single lane, didn't even come past on my left when I was in the right hand lane coming up to the roundabout, and gave a cheery greeting, wave and  when I turned to thank him.

The courtesy cost nothing, delayed no one (there was still a queue at the lights) and quite made my day... almost as much as 'scalping' the tosser in an A3 who thought he could block me by moving to the left before stopping at the lights about a mile later. He looked most upset when I thanked him for creating space as I went past on his offside. :giggle:

Good stuff indeed. I didn't mention that I'd already waved thanks to him for sitting behind when the road split in two, expecting him to come through on the left as there was plenty of room.

Not only did he not come through but he wound his window down to say thanks for the wave before I turned to give the

The Audi driver was a minor aggravation, a pimple on the buttock of life, I'm sure that I got over it before he did. ;) Especially as I meant it when I said thanks, I imagined the confusion as he tried to work it how I was being sarcastic and then the horror that would come with the dawning realisation that he had helped a cyclist to make progress.

Hee Hee Makes the honour of buying you that coffee all the more pleasurable, Mark. I hope I had managed to express my appreciation at the time, through the porn-star soundtrack that I make on the commute.

Not quite. Imagine, if you can, a remake of that scene from 'When Harry Met Sally', made by the original cast of 'Last of the Summer Wine'. Including those who are sadly deceased.

I had a tanker driver give me loads of space this morning. Later on , and I know some won't beleive it, a skip lorry held back until i had moved into the relative safety of the CS7 from southwark bridge down to southwark street. was proper amazed.

likely means a pants day in work but hey hoo

I have to agree it is super to see people that are cortious to us as it is not the norm at all. I always wave at people that are cortious to me and if they are on my route and I see them again I will always make the effort to wave at them
