My mum pays £13 a month for Sky after they reduced her fee (for a year) when she was going to cancel. The only reason she keeps it is to be able to watch the regional news from back home (Ulster). Can't do that with Freesat. But she'd got to the stage where she couldn't justify it before they reduced the price.

But as a result I get to use her account to watch Eurosport online - for free. I win over Murdoch!

Here is a question I could not answer the other day, what was the first company to bring satellite TV as we now know it?

Anyone alse seen this story about a guy in the US who tried to cancel his Internet subscription. It's totally bonkers, and shows the pressure the sales reps are under to keep you as a customer.

There is a link to the telephone recording on the page.
When I cancelled with Sky they made a half hearted effort to try and retain my custom, but offering me 3 months at half price by tieing me in for another 18 months wasnt going to swing it.
