That was difficult today!

Well finally got my MTB out for my commute, roads are still too icy for skinny tyres.

What great fun the ride in was, a little bit of road but mostly tracks. Within 5 minutes of riding I was grinning from ear to ear.
A few adventures trying to stay upright, but great fun.

Must be best part of a year since I rode my MTB, but I was riding along thinking to myself 'god I love this bike'

Another Tip - Don't bother. Coming home was horrible, Main roads all snow covered, Mucklow hill - Black Ice. Not biking again this year.

I aborted my planned Christmas shopping trip yesterday when I saw it was snowing! But actually Wolverhampton Road was okay yesterday evening, so I decided to cycle to Asda instead of walk to the shops. No leery moments, though I did manage to lock up the back wheel whilst braking - oops! But there's no way I'd even dream of tackling Mucklow Hill - even the thought of ice on that 1 in 10 hill brings out a shiver!!!

Was OK this morning. Much better than Tuesday. Might cycle to my Mums for Christmas. On the other hand, that would mean leaving my wife and presents at home. So I won't.

The main roads are mostly clear, apart from a few patches. The side roads are much dicier (but surprisingly fun on the remaining patches of snow, even though I'm hopeless at it!). I was very glad of the big fat 50mm tyres on the Dahon! It was beginning to ice up at 4:30, I wouldn't be too keen to be out in it now. You've got quite narrow tyres on your bike, haven't you? I wouldn't want to try even the main roads on anything thinner than 32mm, tbh.
