I need something that is going to keep my feet dry.

in this weather the only option is cling-film.

I've just dug out my Goretex gloves for later, going for the full on waterproof gear and a nice slow ride in to avoid sweating, that's the plan anyway
Quite glad it's an off-peak commute this week, wouldn't really fancy mixing it with the traffic in this weather.

If I'd ridden to work this morning, the water would have been up to my axles on all my favourite routes to work !

Not good news for a shiny road bike even with mudguards fitted.

Noting to adopt a different & boring route after heavy rain, in future.

A 10 min car journey took 50 mins battling against cars with flooded engines and closed roads.

Which roads were most affected? Luckily Mr Summerdays had to take the car in for MOT today so is working from home!!

It's an amber warning down here in London. Just popped to the bike shop to get a new jacket (old one has gone to pish) and I got soaked, even with a brolly.

It was Amber here too, its finally stopped raining but I gather round 2 will happen overnight!! Whilst it is breezy I don't think we have suffered with winds though!

Can't wait for the ride home. Looking like a 30kph headwind almost all the way!

That's my reward for this morning's suffering!

I travel from Winterbourne to Bradley Stoke, and going via Perrinpit Lane was a mistake. As was going along the Old Bristol Road towards Latteridge or towards Hambrook, and Hortham Lane was closed, and the A38 was busy because of all the other road closures !

If I'd taken the 10-mile ride north or the Beacon Lane/Bradley Stoke Way route I would have been fine.

Those of you who don't wear glasses when cycling, count yourself lucky in weather like this!

Mr Summerdays sometimes takes Perrinpit Lane too (by car) so he was very lucky then!
