Has anyone had the pleasure of watching the Renault advert with the cover version of thats entertainment by the jam. It's one of these breathy, stripped down female cover versions that there is an awful trend for at the moment. The artist is Whinnie Williams.

I wonder what say Paul Weller has in these matters.

I'm glad somebody else has noticed this trend. It appears that a particular type of 80s music is being targeted for destruction in the way you describe. My teenage memories are being tarnished and I won't be buying Renault. Or Whinnie Williams.

Just had a brazilian phone company, Vivo, advertising with a similar breathy version of Cyndi Laupers 'Time after time'. An international phenomenon then.

I recently had a Renault hire car. Very useful in that it served to remind me there are much better ways of getting to my destination. Such as walking.
