I was walking home just now (in Southampton ) , and an old guy dropped down crossing the road. I got over to him, and called an ambulance. I think he may have just been drunk, but you never know. The ambulance got there nice and quick, and Ieft them to it. That was certainly an interesting development

A good thing too. A paramedic ignored a man lying outside a hospital because he thought he was drunk. The man was having a heart attack and later died.

My wife saw that in town on a Saturday afternoon once.

Everyone was giving this guy the swerve as he looked drunk, but he was a diabetic, and she ended up buying him a Mars bar to see him right.

Well here's the thing, he went down right smack bang in the refuge between the traffic lights on a busy junction (by the Texaco garage in Queensway Bernard street/ Holyrood, in Southampton, for anyone who knows the area). Although my first assumption was that he was just another drunkard / vagrant (there are a few round there) and he did have an 'unkempt' appearance, he wasn't rambling / shouting / making no sense. and was answering the questions I was relaying to him via the controller on the phone coherently. I guess he was just a bit eccentric, and went down in front of the right people at the right time (I'm a first aider, and the first guy in a car who stopped, was a G.P.) I guess it was his lucky day.
