That's my last open air swim this year

I studied at a sports college in Norway and voluntarily went ice bathing 10 times.

We had to break the ice in the river, manage three swimming strokes and get our head under. It was only about 8-10 seconds but it was agonising. Rolling around in the snow (immediately prior to having a sauna) was almost a luxury. But it was extremely invigorating

Puddles

Do I need to get the spray plaster out?

Pulling through
It's amazingly pleasant, on anything but the sunniest days, when it tends to be absolutely heaving. You feel blessed, to be able to do something so natural and unregulated in one of the world's great cities...just floating gently, looking up through the leaves....
Brockwell Lido captured an element of this, particularly on a warm but drizzly summer's day. It's been 'improved' since and its future secured but has lost a certain shambolic approach to health and safety which I regret. (Speaking of swimming outdoors I'm reminded to start a thread looking for tips and ideas on a swimming tour of the Thames...)
