Windy one today ..my route included this lane between two villages...it went on for about 2 miles. It's tough living in the countryside sometimes😂😂

Had started out to get another point, this morning, but the humidity and even more clouds of blackfly forced me to play a different hand and only complete 28 miles. I was, however, rewarded. At Kirton, a car had stopped at a ridiculous location near a junction and other cars were also stopping, but the drivers seemed less anger and more excited. The reason? In an adjoining field, a magnificent red deer stag was posing for the on-lookers. Of course, as soon as I reached for my camera, he began wandering away. I did however get this long-distance shot as he crested the brow of the hill.

Taking a break from my strenuous holiday activities 🚴🏄🍺🍺, I've had a check up on everyone's progress .Warning this list my contain inaccuracies as I'm doing it from memory 😵‍💫, I believe we have 21 riders fully posted up leaving 2 riders yet to declare so a gentle nudge for @Bruce 1530 and @sevenfourate .Well done everyone

Silly busy at work. Some events at weekends, grabbing my BMX when I have had half-an- hour spare to ride - coupled with 12 days abroad: means I WILL be completing this ride this weekend. Might even get out Friday Evening 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the reminder, enjoy your Holiday - and well done to the vast majority: who’ve already got at least one qualifying ride under their belts 😁

Part of last night consisted of checking the bike over, making drinks, getting out ride-snacks, getting gear ready. And having an early night. In rediness for doing a "Long way to work ride" this Morning. Which would have seen June's challenge completed ^_^ And i was just looking forward to a decent ride to be fair !

Part of my 'prep' also involved todays alarm going off at 3am. To give me time to get up and ready. Walk the dog. Then do 50km and get into work for 6am. However upon being awakened by that awful sounding alarm - all i could hear was heavy rain outside right through the double glazing. Needless to say all my good ideas were scuppered. And i was always riding Sunday anyway. All the best laid plans..........

Despite illness, vacation, ridiculous work schedule - and if I’m honest: a waning of interest of late - I HUGELY ENJOYED today’s ride 😁

3.00 alarm to get up and do a few miles with the dog 🐶 Saw me scrabbling out the door and on my bike at 3.55am. Firstly I wanted to avoid the heat. Secondly I'm watching my Son in a running race this Morning…..

So up the Coast I headed to Hopton:

Then to Gorleston. On some fashionable Gravel paths 🙄

Where through the hedge I spotted Gorleston Golf Club:

Onto Gorleston Sea-front……

Over the river to Great Yarmouth:

Around the Town. And along the Prom…….

Stopping for a bite of needed sustenance:

Then picked up my buddy - who with ailments can’t do too many miles - and cycled inland back to Lowestoft:

Fab ride out 😍

After a fortnight in Cornwall it was back on local roads this morning ,did on old favourite route I've not done in ages but don't know why . Used to regularly do my loop out to St Bernards Abbey but since moving house Ive being going on other routes . Anyway my Cornish training camp seems to have gained me some fitness ,36 miles at 16.6mph with nearly 2100ft of upness is not too shabby .
Stats for Cornwall 248 miles in 12 rides with 18500ft of upness and average of over 74ft up per mile there is very little flat just restless up and down
Managed 1 Strava KOM on a fairly obscure segment but not the one I lost last year gave up on that as I felt in was unsafe to push on the descents on the single carriageway lanes and couldn't make up enough time on the climb at the end . Pleased with a 5th placed on a segment done by nearly 2000 people would like to say it's down to my legs and fitness but a massive tailwind my have been involved 😁

Am I last again??

Squeezed in a ride this morning. From Saltcoats followed the NCN73 to Kilwinning, then farm roads to skirt round Irvine. Back onto the NCN73 and followed the old railway path until it abruptly ends as you enter Kilmarnock. Another couple of miles to Dean Castle country park, and a nice coffee and cake.

Back by roughly the same route, different route around Irvine, took a "short cut" through Eglinton Park, using a path that was much muddier than I remembered

51k.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I aim to get a late afternoon/early evening ride in today. My planned route would bring me home along the valley road from Hebden Bridge but I have the option to add a longer, more interesting, and strenuous finish 'over the tops'.
I did do the ride but had left it a bit late to add on extra distance and hundreds more metres of climbing so I just stuck to the original route.

Now to do the month's write-up in the other thread... It is going to be too hot today (Monday) for me to feel like riding 50+ km!
