I'm not saying he's the best in the world but I've seen this guy live a couple of times and he's truly amazing. I just thought I'd chuck him in the mix...

I'm going to see Wilco Johnson tonight (amongst others) at the Colne R&B festival. I'll report back tomorrow on what he was like. I've seen vids on You Tube that show Norman Watt-Roy is his bass player and I hope he's with him tonight.

Billy Bragg, it takes a certain talent to be able to stand on your own and produce rhythm, percussion and bass from one instrument.

Good shout! "You'll never stop the axis of evil, by putting smart bombs in the hands of dumb people". Cracking lyric, that.

Then the real blues guitarists: no list should be without Lightnin' Hopkins. And how about the 'Kings': B.B. and Albert? I'd be tempted to add R'n'B pioneer, T-Bone Walker too.

So glad that Lightnin' Hopkins got a shout. I'd also throw in my personal faves - Earl Hooker

I really like the fellas from Children of Bodom, Alexi Laiho and Roope Latvala. The first few seconds of "Lake Bodom" are a masterpiece.

Norman Watt Roy as already mentioned... well nobody said what type of guitar...

To be honest, there are so many great players out there that you can have a new fave every five minutes depending on your mood!
