Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Well, I didn't make it. I had two rides to do in December, which woudn't normally be a problem, but I've had a constant cough and breathing problems for much of December. I've been to the doc and it's improved but not really sorted. I did try to do a climbing ride at the start of Dec but had to bail out as I was having breathing trouble on the hills.

I did manage 13 rides > 1,018m (not including turbo). And I could have managed my 1500m Lunacy target if I'd allowed myself to include turbo rides this year, but I decided not to.

According to my stats I have 143 1500m+ rides (excluding turbo), so another 7 will take me to a kind of Eddington milestone, 150 x 1500 so I think I'll be entering next year, but not in January as I'm not in great shape at the moment. That's a splendid aspect of Lunacy challenges.

Congratulations @Willd and @FrothNinja !

I think it is an interesting challenge but I am sticking to just the 3+-rides-a-week and 50-a-a-month challenges this year. I will maximise my efforts on those.

I'll probably have another go, maybe at 850m. However, it's becoming increasingly difficult without going long distances (70 miles+) or repeating sections. I do have a new bottom gear of 34/34 to play with though :secret:

I just came across this and I thought CCers might be interested.
This seems as good a thread as any.

Simon Warren does events that involve route planning, gathering points and so forth. The rules are complicated enough to make @ColinJ proud. He gives a load of climbs, for which you get points and you have to plot your own route. There's an app and everything.

Then you all get together on a specific day and ride your routes. Places are limited, so I won't be entering - I'll leave that to people who really want to do it. But I will be planning and riding some routes. The link above is to the SE edition. I know all the climbs he has listed.

Racked up my 4th of the year and find myself getting competitive with me.
Just noticed that each qualifying run so far this year has clocked more ascent than the one before.
Not sure how long this can continue - the last couple of rides have had a high degree of artificiality in their latter halves.

5th one in the bag (still aching) and a big jump ascent, but mostly by dint of the length of the ride. Won't be repeating it - terrifying riding on most of those roads south of Preston. Loads of folk older than me pootling around on their bikes, quite a few in hi-viz but no helmet. Silly people I thought, especially as a car narrowly missed one on-coming couple then almost put me in a deep ditch. They looked offended by my greeting to the car driver. I have a theory that the car drivers are frightening riders out of the goodness of their hearts.
The actual roads are pretty much flat and the views duller than ditch water. The heightened awareness of mortality added a certain something to the tedious peddling.
Think I have managed to get slightly sun scorched too - quite an achievement for the first day of Spring.
