there are other factors... Ennis is THE poster girl, compare her media coverage to that of Laura Trott. the public are used to GB cyclists winning things now, so they may be jaded by that. the Paralympics caught the imagination and more brits went to Paralympic events than Olympic ones. the Olympics drowned out all that came before. the public tend to only know a few cycling events, so the Dauphin, Paris-Nice, etc. that Brad also won will mean nothing. the mens Olympic road race was seen as a failure, mainly due to the hype and it being the first big event of the games. Brad isn't a fan of the media and doesn't play their games, he may come across as aloof or just plain weird.

my money would be on Ennis or a Paralympian to get it, even if Bradlye deserves it.

It should be so. I think maybe it will be Wiggo but the 5,000 m & 10,000 m gold double is historically speaking a greater achievement, really exceptionally special. What a nice person too. I wouldn't think Wiggo would begrudge him that award (he's just won the velo d'or himself).

1st British man to win a major since the 1930s then one an Olympic Gold.

He's the only serious contender to Brad in my opinion. (If you take it on sporting achievement alone)

Injustice if you ignore he's the only candidate who is globally famous for his sporting achievements - what with tennis being massively more popular and played worldwide than athletics or cycling.

I stopped watching it a couple of years ago due to the selection process. Of the 57 occasions it has been held, a female has won just 12 times [excluding Torville and Dean], speaks volumes. Last year no women made it onto the shortlist of 10. Who chooses the shortlist? Last year it was 27 national and regional editors who made this decision, what we don't know is how many of them were male.....let me think now.
I've seen the names being bandied about by the self same editors and I haven't seen Sarah Storey nominated anywhere, both incredible and disgraceful.

No British person has ever won either the 5,000 m or 10,000 m Olympic gold medals since the races started being run in 1912, let alone both in the same year.
