I just read that as 'From France to Flanders', Lee ha ha...I'm going for a sit down.

Sociopathic you mean?

Like many others?

There are a large number of sports persons whose drive to succeed at all costs, and to take risks to get there

These are all socioopaths to some extent, otherwise they would not have the ruthlessness that is required to succeed at the cost of others

No. TLH is watching that tedious moving house programme.
I'm surfing that tedious interwebs.

Watched both films over the last 2 weekends with the wife. I'll admit to being drawn into cycling by LA.

My impression of Pantani is that he came across as a spoiled child and played the victim.

I'll not condone LA or what he did, however, he admitted what he did and why he did it, albeit he didn't apologise for it.

Of the two, I thought I would be more sympathetic towards Pantani, however, that's not the case. Odd.

I just watched some of this. I didn't see it all but from what I did see, the sport is a real can of worms. How did Armstrong get away with it for so long, especially given the fact he was strongly suspected of doping. Shouldn't the authorities or whatever just give him the boot. Although the ugly man is banned now, I think considerable damage has been done to the sports reputation.

Just watched it. Thought the earlier BBC documentary was better with more facts.

$100 million dollars of lawsuits pending. The doping I can see as it was a prevalent part of the sport, the the conscious bullying of everyone around him makes him a prize muppet.

I agree 100%

What urks me when the ill informed get all uppity about performance enhancing drugs be it steroids or whatever, they only give you a tiny advantage, you have to have an already amazing starting point, yes it's wrong, it's cheating and i'm not condoning it but I do wish some folk would put it into perspective, drugs wont turn an average joe into a superman.

If the race was Joe average against Superman that would be fine, but it's not, the race(s) are superman v superman on drugs.

Not true, in the BBC4 doc, the wife of one of his team mates watched her husband perform way beyond his capacity on a climb and she knew straight away he had to be drugged up to ride at that level.

Unfortunately what he did to a true bike legend and his wife was sickening.
