A real nasty piece of work, A disgusting, vile individual. A cheat and a liar who was happy to cause misery to further his own cause. What he did to a real legend LeMond was beyond the pale. I have no respect for him what so ever. Cancer or no cancer.
Pretty much sums up how I (now) feel.
If the race was Joe average against Superman that would be fine, but it's not, the race(s) are superman v superman on drugs.
In the Liestrong era it was superman on drugs vs other superman on better drugs.

Not convinced much has changed tbh.

Somewhere along his way he lost the plot ………….. ambition and power took over from right and wrong. What he did to those around him who were supposedly his friends was shocking - Betsy Andreu and Greg LeMond.

He may have been a phenomenal bike rider, were any of his performances down to him alone or was it down to whatever he was taking or a combination which is most likely? We will never know and a great shame. On reflection it's lots of "what ifs" again. However he was a tremendous fund raiser for cancer treatment through Livestrong, but he went and ruined it all. There wasn't only the doping but the abuse of power and pursuit of success at all costs.

Mind you in his first season racing in Europe he realises he can't keep up so goes looking for "juice". So one has the impression he wasn't the only one doping big time. They were all at it. Tommy Simpson, Pantani, Rasmussen, Millar to name but a few and the Festina scandal. Cycling at the time had a huge elephant in the room that no one absolutely no one in the sport would challenge. Cycling's big dirty secret. Even the sponsors and organisers were making shed loads of money off him so it is a bit rich that they now want their money back.

Armstrong made a mistake with Landis not allowing him back in his team meaning Landis was really pissed off and started talking ……….

Then there was Tyler Hamilton who told his story.

But we will never know the full facts as some people still won't reveal what was really going on with whom, when and where as they could go to jail. Naming no names.

Only last night did I watch the Armstrong Lie. I've largely lost interest in him now, in fact it feels slightly dirty to watch him talk or to see him in the news but last night I thought I'd watch it for completion.

He's still lying and he's still keeping the Omerta. He won't admit to the conversation in the hospital room, where a major sponsor colluded with his doping. He insists he rode clean in 2009, when all the blood values from the Ventoux stage say otherwise. He knows what happened with the UCI, with Verbruggen but he's not saying, I doubt he will. He continues to play the game, to bully, to lie and deceive, to seek to win power in some way, to be relevant, if you couldn't see that from last night's programme then you still haven't got the measure of the man.

His legacy and the legacy that preceded him is still relevant. Not so much the lessons but the culture. Things have changed and moved on, the players are different now, the secrets are different, cycling is cleaner but you'd be foolish to think it's entirely clean. Concentrating on Armstong detracts from what is happening now. EPO is old news. There are almost certainly new drugs on the block, new Ferrari's, new Bruyneels. Not in the same numbers but they're there. As Boardman said. If it looks unbelievable, it probably is.

Doesn't stop me enjoying the sport. I see the same doubts in other sports too. Athletics for example. Football, Rugby, Tennis, anything. Can't imagine a footballer getting up with half his skin missing and playing on. Cyclists are still a breed apart for me.

Yes..he did come across as a bully for sure...

this is th efirst time ive really taken any interest in his story so was ignorant of what he's been up to until last night really...i knew he doped but had no real clue what he was like as a person, which is why I watched it.

Just call me Chris...
I thought it was fascinating.
Explained why he did it, how, and was an extremely well made film in my opinion.

It was just as intriguing reading between the lines of what he said, as much as what he actually did say.
After watching the programme I can't believe the front of the bloke, with his impassioned attack in the press conference referring to cancer sufferers, and his constant eye at the camera denials.

Apart from that I found the programme a bit boring. Apart from the fawning US chat show hosts.
Some sort of pathology to his lying I fear. He's a snake oil salesman who failed to complete 3 out of the 4 TdeF's he entered before he got himself 'properly prepared'.

Certainly fooled me.

I agree 100% on that.

Was ever so smug when the truth starting unravelling as I had many impassioned discussions about him and his suggested doping. It was nice to be proved right for a change.

Watched it last night and it pretty much confirmed to me that the only thing he's genuinely sorry about is getting caught. If destroying a few more people would get him off the hook, you bet he would.
And surely there can't be many people left out there who believe he didn't blood dope in 2009.

Hi all.

I've skipped the majority of post's here to avoid finding out too much from the film.

I did, like many, see all the Oprah interview.

Just ordered the film for a great price £9.99 on Blu Ray from www.probikekit.com if anyone fancies it.

Also ordered the Pantani film on Blu Ray.

All I need now is a PS3 to watch them on, oh & Le Tour de France 2014 game to play.

Finally, a good excuse for her indoors is required too.
