The assumption that if I'm 6'4'' my waist must be 40+...

Oi, watch it :boxing: I was going to respond with "shorty" but it might offend Potsy

I sometimes wonder whether buying a pair of 3/4 bib tights would fit me as full length

Opposite problem to the Op, short legs and generous waist, not easy to get stuff like this to fit correctly.

The wife turned up a pair of bottoms once that had loops on, only she could put them back on 90 degree out.

Now we could talk about the new pair of trousers she turned up for me, would have been a nice neat job had she not done the same leg twice.

Or we could talk about the pair she completely sewed the leg shut.

The list goes on, but I still love her to bits.

Yeah I do reckon companies are missing a trick by not producing two waist sizes for each length they sell

This has probably been done to death - if so sorry!

I am after some bib shorts / bib tights at the moment.. now in general I have been quite willing to compromise slightly when buying base layers, jackets etc. and have sacrificed some of the close fit of clothing in order to have my sleeves where they should be (yes I am a lanky b*****d!) but I can't really do the same when buying legwear.

This post was prompted by seeing a reference to this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-vaeon-roubaix-padded-bib-short-and-bib-tight/ in the 'found a bargain' thread. I thought the deal looked fairly good, had a quick look at the sizing guidelines and discovered that I need to put on another 11 inches around the waist...

Now obviously these things are stretchy so I will end up going for something more close fitting around the waist and hope that I don't end up with exposed ankles / calves but would love some suggestions at what to try. I'm 6' 4'' and have a 33'' waist.

I've found Gore are quite good for my tall but skinny physique - is anyone aware of other affordable brands?

I'm 6 foot 3 with the same waist and had the same dilemma when ordering the other day. Got a large and they fit fine

i am 6'8 with a 40" waist, i am also a budget cyclist....
my problem is finding stuff that i can try on to see if it fits...... tried some in evans that i couldnt stand up in the bit over the shoulder was too tight and if i stood up i wouldnt be able to have kids.....

http://www.sportsdirect.com/muddyfox-bib-tights-mens-635097 i settles for these in both shorts and tights. i know sd stuff usually comes with a bad rep but these are fine, well stitched and well sized. i wear a xxl so you may even get away with a large.

A large of those dhb's?

If so how are they in general?

Yes, the roubaix long and short bundle, they fit great, there seems to be a little bit more room heightwise but they fit well round the waist and legs (most of my height is in my legs). I think being 6'4 would be fine but I would be having second thoughts if you were much above that. Wiggle does free returns so if you did get the large and they didnt fit right it wouldnt be the end of the world.

Only worn them once but they are comfortable and warm so cant complain so far

Cheers for that, I ended up getting some myself and they seem to fit well. I could imagine the straps getting a little uncomfortable around my shoulders/chest on longer journeys though.

@ OP - dunno dude, you're almost ideal racing shape - most racing cut clothes should fit you perfectly

I'm 6'1'' and 31'' waist and find I could still lose an inch or two round the waist to get the perfect fit.
