A few months ago my old commuter hybrid packed up so I got the old mountain bike out of the shed cleaned and lubed it and used that of course if you have an mtb you have to go off road on it. a couple of weeks ago whilst attempting a steep downhiller (it was much easier years ago) I had to make a hasty dismount, (to be honest I didn't have much choice in it gravity decided it for me) and hurt myself. Thinking nothing of it I got on the bike and rode on. (I'll get to the point in a bit) I fixed the hybrid and went back to work on that mothballing the mtb again.
In preparation for my new road bike over the last week I have been taking the commuter out just to get my fitness up and put in a couple of times over a regular distance last night I pushed it a bit and woke up this morning unable to walk very much. The doctor said I need to rest and I have been doing that all day but the new bike came today and I was unable to listen that siren voice any longer I know I am weak but I gave in so I have just been back from a short spin.
I don't remember road bikes from 35 years ago being so comfortable nor do I remember them being this much fun I took 10 minutes off my best time on the hybrid and I swear I wasn't pushing hard it's been such a long time since I have enjoyed myself so much on a bike. Think I'll go and get the ice pack now
