My pale blue Vitus Duralinox, Shimano 600EX/Mavic/Cinelli/Flite/Look equipped. It was beautiful - everybody said so. When it became too much for my neck and shoulders I should have just put it on the wall to stare at. I don't even have a picture of it

The Raleigh tourer I bought when my previous bike got nicked while I was at Uni in the early 1980s. I didn't sell it, actually, I went to live in Spain and left it to fester in my brother's shed. It was eventually given away. It was a brilliant bike and gave me many hours of happy riding.

Erm..I don't really sell bikes, just buy them.

My old Trek now hangs on a wall. An early bonded alu frame, I wouldn't trust it on the road now. But it did take me from LE to JOG so I keep it for "sentimental" reasons.

p.s. the Vitus sounds lovely - got any pics?

My first 'proper' road bike when I was about 22 years old, a black Pinarello (no idea which model), chrome forks, down-tube shifters of course, probably cheap groupset and wheels but I loved it.

No idea of the model, no photos, just memories.

My old British Eagle tourer. Nothing much to look at, but a lovely well-mannered steel frame which so deserved a rebuild into a nice big comfortable tourer. Oh well....

Not bikies, but frames.

My first proper MTB, an Orange C16R from 1995, closely followed by my Marin Pine Mountain frame, circa 1998. Being frames they had roundly outlived any of the componentry fitted, and I should have just continued to replace the worn out bits until the frames broke.

My heartstrings were pulled a couple of months ago when I was out riding and met up with somebody riding an old C16R in the same colour as my bike. Sniff.

The 531 framed Peugeot in beautiful condition with full 105 I bought early this year and sold just a few months later. I've since realised it would have been very useful to use back in Luxembourg. I've since bought a nice yellow Bianchi for the purpose which is a classy ride but it's not in as good condition and needs some work.
