The one bus SMIDSY I remember was on Princes Street in Edinburgh. Three bright purple double-deckers were parked up against the kerb. A jogger came running down the footway and promptly ran into the middle bus. How on earth you miss 3 parked up double-deckers is beyond me!
They'd have had to review footage from both buses if a complaint was made, or contact was made between them. Will the footage be reviewed as a matter of routine?
I don't think the driver of the bus I was in would report his colleague, they were driving the same bus number![]()
I've managed to walk into the front of a bus coming my way twice. The one bus SMIDSY I remember was on Princes Street in Edinburgh. Three bright purple double-deckers were parked up against the kerb. My understanding was that footage is reviewed regularly at the end of a shift, particularly if someone puts in a complaintThey'd have had to review footage from both buses if a complaint was made, or contact was made between them.
Other than that, can't see them pulling two buses off the road to check.
The pedant in me has to point out they should have talked about "priority", not "right of way".
It's a public road, we all have a right of way, what matters is who has priority. Road markings, signs and traffic lights determine this.
I don't think a colleague would complain about another colleague in this instance. My understanding was that footage is reviewed regularly at the end of a shift, particularly if someone puts in a complaint

It didn't seem like anyone was angry, just shaken, but yes, it's a possibility.I was thinking more passenger(s) on the buses
Waiting at a red light in York one Sunday morning, there was one car between me (on the bike) and the stop line. When the light turned green the car moved off, then hastily stopped just in time to avoid being wiped out by a bus coming through from the right. The passengers were all glaring at him as if he'd jumped the lights.I was standing at a crossing on red with 30 or so runners from our local club when a bus driver pulled out of the depot and floored the accelerator and ran straight through the red light with people actually crossing.
You need to keep your eyes open on the forum - there are 34 pages worth of SMIDSY posts here!I keep reading this thread trying to figure out what a SMIDSY is. Just gave up and googled it![]()
