The Classic Chopper to be Relaunched at Halfrauds

This thread is a 'the older we get, the better things were' thread.

The original Raleigh Chopper, was ugly, heavy, slow and unstable. An opinion just as subjective as those in its favour.

Worse than the T-bar - someone nicked my "knobs" off the T-bar - just a bar / scalpel !

& my Chopper was purple ,

no wonder they instigated operation Yew-tree, only a matter of time before a designer at Raleigh gets a "knock!

This seems to have been made by accountants with bits from the parts bin.

IIRC so was the Range Rover, the back shell and door was from one of the defunct van designs and the door handles ex Morris Marina stock!

The last major relaunch was the 25th Anniversary in 2004, the seat and gear shifter went at that stage,

Whether this relauncjh will be as successful as the 2004 one remains to be seen

Which is fine if you want to make a tool of utility as the Range Rover was at the time. Not if you want to sell something for its design rather than use.

It's not a Chopper if it doesn't have the T-bar gear lever on the crossbar, imo.

I knew it! As soon as I saw the word Raleigh I knew it would weigh the size of a small moon. With modern Raleigh take what you were expecting it to weigh, add 4kg and there you go.
