Your choice though as I am sure if you wanted a brand new car you could of course buy one like the OP did.

New cars are nice; luckily I had my fill back in the days of company car and car allowance.

Don't want, and don't have, a car these days full stop. tlh insists on infernal combustion due to all the marking she has to lug and the distance of her workplace from the railway station, but prefers bangernomics, provided the power-to-weight ratio is right, to depreciation - though I understand nowadays personal contract hire can make new cheaper than recent second-hand.

As my motor lived outside, I was thinking more of the quality over the counter synthetic sealants, rather than the rubbish like Supagard etc that a dealer will try and ream you for. Even cheapo AutoGylm sealer is miles better than that.

I can't recommend any one in particular as different paint finishes and makes responded best to different products, but there are an easy 3 or 4 out there massively better than Supagard or Sonax crap, for a fraction of the price. Add to that the cheeky wheezes the dealers do - one pack of Supagard does 2 or 3 cars, but the naughty dealers still charge each owner for a full kit.

Tell the dealer politely to keep his product, go buy something yourself that's 3 times more effective fora tenth the cost. But even then you can forget talk of months or year of paint protection. It just doesn't happen.

Whch is why I have written a few times, do not get the dealer to do it, The Supagard is a good product, unfortately is is seldom applied well and at £395 or whatever the garages charge you would expect it to be. For the £10 or so it can be bought for it is I feel worth the investment, I use it on my bikes, shower glass and many other places.

It makes it easier to keep clean, it helps avoid bird lime damage which we all know shows up bad on Dark blue cars. Try it on the bike and the dirt washes off quite easily, even on a muddy MTB.

I am not saying I could not do the 35,000 miles year I do at the moment in a 15 year olf FIesta, just that I would not enjoy it, whilst you might be happy.

Paint sealant is useful for people who do not like polishing cars as it lasts longer than a wax would.

Tell me about it I have worked on both extremes today, a farmers Discovery and which looked like he had just dug it out of a field and a BMW that looked like it had never seen a spec of dust. Along with a couple in between.

I did consider one but our ( ie the wifes car which i occasionaly drive ) is a 58 plate with 33 ,0000 miles on it so not worth changing as theirs nowt wrong with it besides a few car park scratches and being filled with kiddy detritus.

Whats the engine like ? the 1.2 put me off because i thought it might be a bit underpowered fully loaded ?
