There is a new version of the classic British fillum "The Dambusters" on the way. Sir David Frost, Peter Jackson and Steven Fry (as scriptwriter) are all involved. It will benefit from the inclusion of information which was still unusable at the time the original was made due to still being regarded as top secret. I can't wait, me.

That's a pretty interesting and bold venture. Very good.

So long as they don't claim that the British had an integral part in it and undermine the pivotal, and vital part that the Americans played in this operation.

So long as it's not epic CGi scenes interjected with scenes of human interaction reminiscent of Dorian Gray, it could be good.

It is one of Peter Jackson's favourite films (along with King Kong) so it doesn't surprise me that he'd want to be involved. And, unless US backers/money demand so, I can't see there being a revision of history involved either!

Alberti's definition of beauty was 'nothing can be added and nothing can be taken away'. And that pretty much sums up 'The Dambusters'. It's historically pants, and bypasses the terrible loss of civilian life, but, as a film, it's nigh on perfect.

Have to go a long way to to beat the original. As to not using CGI well as far as I know there is only one flying Lancaster so the film makers would need to CGI the other twenty aircraft, also as no Yanks took part they don't need to be included either (Hooray!).

The explosion of the dam in the original Dambusters is a bit rubbish though isn't it?

I know what you mean, but it's part of the 'feeling' of the movie. I can just imagine how CGI would deal with it, and TBH a lot of CGI leaves me cold. The original has a certain charm to it at least.
