Since I've been on this forum I could count the number of times someone has said something like "You know, now that I've considered your opinion I've decided that I was wrong" on the fingers of one elbow.

It might not be as simple as agreeing or disagreeing, right or wrong. I read many different discussions on here where people simply aren't talking about the same thing. Tempers fray as the different parties don't recognise this and continue on in their different tangents.

Which is the main difference between web chat and and actual human interaction chat (plus people get 'cyber balls' online), its hard to gauge subtle undertones and read how people are voicing themselves and make people see your point.

I was going to add that. So, yes, I agree with you there. The scope for misunderstanding and cross purposes is huge on any forum, imo. It's there in face-to-face interactions too but I reckon it's usually easier to spot and simpler to resolve.
