My colleague and I were once in traffic alongside the River Foss, at a point where the concrete bank is quite high - 2-3 feet. There was a family of goslings on the bank, with both parents in the water honking at them to jump in. The goslings were all mithering, not quite daring to make the leap.
Then all but one of them got behind one, and shoved it in! And then all backed off, as if to say "No, we never touched him!"
The traffic moved off, and we never saw if the others ever plucked up courage to jump!
