It all started way back in... Aug 2020. On Fleabay was a pair of Fulcrum Racing Zero's with Ceramic bearings. Sold as 'spares or repair'. Though they were pretty pristine. I asked the seller what was wrong with them and he said the bearings were shot.
But despite that, I bought them nonetheless.
When I got them, I could hardly spin the wheels and set about dismantling the hubs. I figured the cost of new ceramic bearings and maybe even races was worth the outlay as I got them pretty inexpensively. Listing ended on a Tuesday, mid afternoon - funny time. Won the bid with no other bids placed.
So upon inspection of everything, it was all fine in there surprisingly. Cleaned it all and re-assembled. Only, it was a Shimano freehub and I run Campag. I have run 2 x 11 speed DA cassette's including the one above on it with no issues. I had though that at some point in the future, I may have to change the freehub and bought one, along with a Campag cassette and chain some time ago.
So that day has come as it seemed pointless to purchase DA cassette number 3 when I had a freehub and a freehub ready to rock n roll.
It's a PITA of a job as you have to take the whole thing apart and I always try to keep assembly where bearings are concerned, pristine.
Look at this little lot:

All back together and happy. Incidentally, I haven't touched the bearings since re-assembly almost 5 years ago such is the amazing quality of the hubs.

11 sp stuff is fine. I've been running a 11sp Shimano hubbed disc on my Campanolo equipped TT bike for about 5 years or more.
