I am pretty sure it was the year - or year after - Orkut was founded, which means that - as Orkut and Facebook are basically identical - if google hadn't been so weird and secretive, they would now rule the universe

I'm probably showing my ignorance, not that it hides well anyway, but I'd never head of Orkut.

They were formed in the same year though, or at least both went live then.
