Whenever I see his name I always think about the story of Martine McCutcheon throwing up in his dreadlocks. And then everything seems all right again.

set aside the fact that Rod Stewart is a posturing ninny whose prime objective has been to **** women half his age it has to be said that 'Maggie May' is a great song, and that his voice makes it. For that (and Reason to Believe) he has a place in my memories

I haven't been on a forum in years - how do I embed a link? I forgot. A link to 'how to' page would be nice.

Although Rod has a gravelly voice I've always found it to be a bit on the weak side. Listen to a natural singer like Delbert McClinton or T Graham Brown and there's so much more power to theirs - slow song or belter.

Rod's done some awful stuff since the Faces, but this is in a different league altogether!

I know who'd fit the bill.

Scottish singer, cut some great albums, great voice, all round rock and roller. Was quite seriously ill a couple of years back but he was on the mend last time I heard.

Frankie Miller ;)

They'd be better of getting Paul Rogers who's been wasting his time doing boring stuff with Queen or the aforementioned Eric Burdon.

Eric Burdon is 68 years old ;)

Or indeed The Animals mks 1 and 2... of course, that's true. I just think that Steve Marriott's departure created two rather lesser bands than what had gone before. However, it's doubtful whether The Small Faces could have gone anywhere else, anyway... if they'd done the USA, they might have ended up an awful stadium rock band like The Kinks did in the 70s.

Surely the worst example of a band mk1 and mk2 is Fleetwood Mac. I have some of their 60s blues stuff, and it's fantastic. What a shame that Peter Green lost the plot...
