Once of the worst incidents I have seen since watching cam footage of our fellow cyclists. He is lucky to be alive.

I guess the guy did something, bad as it was, that hundreds of people have done before and will do again. The woman created a subset of shame all of her own.

This type of incident is shocking to most people but has been researched quite a bit. All cyclists and motorists should be compelled to look at this vid:

If you've seen it already try this one:

It's food for thought.

It seems that some people are barely even sentient, let alone aware of their surroundings, and yet they are allowed to drive cars on the public roads. Of course, it's possible she was ... shall we say ... "multi-tasking".

Not sure what those vids are trying to prove... I missed a couple of passes but the gorilla was blatantly obvious, yet the narrator says "did you see the gorilla?" as if he expects us not to have seen it.

erm... am i missing something? (obviously not the gorilla)

Yes I think so. You probably miscounted because your attention wasn't sufficiently focussed, allowing you to see the primate. 50% of people miss the gorilla and this, together with your assertion that the gorilla was blatently obvious, illustrates the point quite well I think. I am asuuming from your reply that you didn't watch to the end of the second video?

It is interesting how someone's attitude is so important. Both drivers were as bad as each other, both completely unobservant to what was directly in front of them, and both should loose their licences. But looking at the comments here and on You Tube, the lad doesn't come over as all that bad, he apologised and showed concern, whereas the woman ....

It is interesting.

I couldn't hear all the footage but she didn't appear to ask if he was ok/apologised etc. A horrible excuse for a human being.

People make mistakes, the guy didn't look properly but was atoning for his actions which is good to see (what I would expect of any decent person tbh).

oh, and he was very very lucky.

if he had a leg caught under the wheel it would have been much more serious.

if she had been driging a 3 tonne 4x4, rather than a Focus which is half the weight
