People hint that hes having problems with the police? Anyone know exactly what problems? If this was my case I don't think anything could be so cut and dry. Two independent witnesses at least (by my count of people coming forward), and decent quality footage.

CopperCyclist, I think the trouble the cyclist is having getting the video to the police or getting any response from them is mentioned in the comments on the YouTube page below the video.

What can I say. I don't think there is anything that can quite convey my thoughts on this incident. Totally shocking.

The first driver was an idiot for pulling into the cyclist, that's for sure. But, all credit to him, he owned up straight away and certainly apologised.

As for the woman......Dangerous driving in my opinion. She should not be allowed to drive a car. Full stop.

When it comes to the police.....well....as Gaz has pointed out I have recently had my own experience with them. If interested you can read about it here . I went to them to report something, and they ended up threatening me with arrest. I can assure you, a complaint has been made.

I sincerely hope this incident does get publicity, and the police are shamed into doing something about it.

I am absolutely SICK of drivers like that lady and worse, getting away with driving like they do. It's about time something was done about it. I'm going to start by pushing for Roadsafe to be brought to Strathclyde. We can't just sit back and take this.

As for the cyclist, I can not believe how chilled he was about it all. I tip my hat to him. I hope he is ok and heals fast, and importantly gets some justice.

The only problem people may have is that court systems are pathetically behind the times, and CPS usually insist on VHS (seriously!) or DVD format. Bring them an .avi or a .wmv or similar and they won't have a system to play it in my local mags court.

In all seriousness this shouldn't be a big issue - if you're savvy enough to create the vid, you should be able to creaye a DVD. Our station also has a VHS linked up to a computer to, so if all else fails we can play the file and record it onto a video tape like the old days!

I can see police saying we can't use something straight off you-tube, but if you can provide it in a usuale format here really shouldn't be an issue. Any police employee that says it is is either getting confused with covert private filming, which is a different matter, wrong, or just plain lazy. Either way, a complaint should correct the issue.

Who was blowing the horn?

I was presuming and hoping it was another driver watching, trying to alert her to the fact she was driving over the top of someone.

In London the police format the video into a format which the courts can use, not us users.

Admittedly there is a problem with submitting a video as a data format. The police do have issues watching this.

It's only a week old incident. It takes months to prosecute someone.

This was one of my 1st knock downs last year

it took over 6 months before he was taken to court but 1st I had to put up with the accusation he made as the copper arrived that I assaulted him & the copper would only deal with that 1st "as it was a more serious offence" He did not know I the camera on the bike (plus several witnesses) which was his downfall.

The chap will have no trouble as the video is of good quality I just hope there isn`t a copper who is lazy dealing with it as there are too many lazy coppers in the force these days & the good one`s go on to better things within the force

Unfortunately it does appear some people will say anything to try and avoid owning up for their own actions, thankfully there is no escape when caught on camera.

An even more serious offence than assault is Pervert The Course of Justice, if you make a false claim about someone else committing a criminal offence that isn't true. Straight to Crown Court job if proveable.

I won't deny theres a lot of lazy cops out there, but I promise they are the minority, not the majority. Additionally, its actually the lazy cops that tend to go on to 'better things' as its easier to hide on smaller teams that aren't controlled by the radio!

let me get this right,,

a policeman arrives at a scene where someone has been hit by a guy in a car. he listens to the bloke in the bmw about getting assualted and doesn't reply " well i'd have hit you to you pillock'

really is depressing they weren't done for perverting the course, after all whats to stop anyone just claiming this all the time ?
what a pitiful excuse for a piece of skin...
