hanging-on in quiet desperation ...

- Kirton, Devon.
I'm sitting here in a hotel by the Rhine opposite Duisburg port killing time with a bit of work and CC. I've had a long lay-in this morning. It's because plans change and I'm concientious.
It was meant to be a Monday casual load-up of kit at the office and drive to Eindhoven, but with stuff to do we didn't leave work 'till 2 ish and reached the hotel at 11pm. Early start the next day to get the trials done and data collected, 5pm finish and off to the hotel for beer and the glow of a job well done followed by a lazy drive back home the next morning.
But
At 5pm on Tuesday as we're packing-up a panic erupts and I need to be in Germany the next day, that evening at the hotel re-arrange my trip, nrew hotel, get a flight from Dusseldorf to send my colleague home on time and Wednesday is an unplanned day in Germany. Now I happen to know that there is a trial going on there too which I should attend, normally these are planned for 9 am and last about 2 hours. Perfect thinks I, 9am trial Thursday morning and then blatt-on back to calais....
But no... today the trial is at 4pm
So I'll be leaving here at about 6pm and have booked the 11.35 pm ferry tonight. I shpuld see my bed at 3 am.
The hire cars being collected at 9.30 am Friday and I need to be at work to unload it...
I shouldn't moan, it's a job, and a job I like, but I've been doing this kind of thing for 4 weeks non-stop and I'm getting a bit weary... still Christmas break soon.
So peeps, foggy view of the Rhine, light snow, prospect of rain and ice later and 240 miles to the ferry and a kip.
All in a day's work
Keep 'em crossed for me, I've packed a sleeping bag...
Gonna need some CC 'Radar Love' tonight.
