My takeaways from last night:
  • England were poor and need to up their game for Wednesday
  • Norway deserved to win but that's not how football works
  • Technology is creating much nonsense. I gather the lastest is England's first goal only came about because the ball clipped an overhead camera wire. There are people out there who will come up with every bit of ridiculous nonsense they can
  • Some folk have forgotten to watch the football - see above
  • Tuchel may well not be England manager for much longer. I thought his outburst at full time was extremely unprofessional. An employer might asking questions of a manager who publicly criticises his team, be it in accounts or on a football pitch.
  • Bellingham seems to agree and I can't help but wonder how many other players are now thinking "feck you"
Did anyone else feel Norway played with virtually ten men? Haarland is a superb striker and I know at City his contribution can be minimal, other than scoring. Similar could be said of Kane, he hardly featured last night.

Was a nasty bit of sh!t stirring by Gabriel Clark though.

It's one of them things. I put my flag out on a pole through my window on Thursday in anticipation of last night's game, intending to bring it back in either win or lose.

I now have a thought that for England to win the World Cup I have to leave it out till after next Sunday's final, should we make it. It was ok on Thursday and Friday night in the hot weather, but last night it wasn't so hot and that open about three inches window was letting lots of too cool for me air in. Do I risk it and bring it in, then put it out on Wednesday afternoon for the semi-final, or do I have to suffer for England to win the World Cup?!🤔 I also have a 'don't go for more beer' rule during play rule now. I can only go from my kitchen where I watch the games to the top of my stairs where I keep my beer when it's half-time or water break time. If I go for a bottle during open play England tend to concede a goal, but never score a goal, so I have to wait pariently till play has stopped before I can go for a top up.🤔

I have an old clothes prop ( very long) three tent guy ropes and tent pegs. My number 1 son has given me his England spare flag and I plan to erect, with some ceremony, the flag pole in our front open plan garden on Tuesday . ‘Come on England’ !

If you want to be critical, I think I have sussed out Kane's tactics. Looks like the refs have too, and possibly the opposition.
Got space, shoot. Not got space, fall over.

Turpin is one of those refs that let's most 50/50 contact go, and a lot of it seems to be a foul. To be fair he does it for both teams. The problem comes when one team benefits i.e. an overlooked free kick leads to a goal.

Hasn’t just been last night though, it’s been the entire tournament.

Move your beer collection from the top of the stairs into the kitchen. Sorted.
