Telford made it into the National League North so you will have "local" games at Spennymoor, Darlington and South Shields.

South Shields to Oxford City the fun of the NLN NLS split!

I believe Oxford City have bumped between NLN & NLS a few times depending on other promotions and relegations as the "split" shuffles most years.

Rugby union has similar in national league 2.
But they have 3 way split. North, South and West.

It always throws up a few anomalies. Guernsey is always tricky as any away game for them is going to be a pain.
But this year you have Macclesfield in the West league, when they really should be in North. Most of their games are in Devon and Cornwall. Redruth being the worst one, a mere 640 mile round trip.

I shall be rooting for the Arsenal ladies on the 24th 👍👍

30 years ago on May 8th we were at Rovers for what was billed as VE Day....Victory at Ewood.

Alan Shearer scored the goal that was later to prove to be the one which sealed the Premiership. Perhaps more importantly Tim Flowers had the game of his life, stopping everything Newcastle threw at him.

Not many teams win the Premier league so that was such a great achievement.
Helped on the last day by one West Ham goalkeeper Ludo Miklosko

Yes, he played out of his skin that day, much like Flowers a few days earlier.

One of my abiding memories of that day is being in the Kemlyn Road end with 3000 Rovers. I had a radio and the last ten minutes most people around me watched my face, not the game. My lad, eight, kept on and on "Dad what's happening?"

There are other stand out moments. When Liverpool's winner went in you could hear a pin drop. A friend who's a red and was there tells me the collective thought was "oh shite, what have we done?" He says it's the only home goal he can recall that wasn't celebrated 🤣🤣🤣

I asked my lad last night what he remembered about the Newcastle game. Remember he was eight. One word reply "bottle" - Fergusson was on record as saying we would bottle it. Flowers famously spoke about that after the game.

Killie confirmed safety today with a fine win over Dundee. First time we've won three in a row for longer than I care to remember!

Attention now turns to our manager who may be off to Hearts, which I think would be a mistake for him as he wouldn't have the level of control over the playing side of things that he enjoys with us.

If he does it's with the best wishes of most of the fans as he's been a stabilising factor in the last few seasons. Not a clue who we'd bring in, although Damien Duff has been a vaguely realistic rumour which would be interesting.
