I actually like it when the season ends and you get a bit of a breather. You can then enjoy some of the summer sports like cricket and tennis.
Smacks of another cynical money making idea from FIFA.

Yes, I enjoy the off season. I keep a very, very vague eye on the goings on at Ewood. I know we've signed a Belgian player but that's it.

I check the fixtures when they come out for first game, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Other than that I wait till the week before the new season to read up on who we've signed, let go etc.

I noticed Liverpool have spent an utterly ludicrous amount of money on some young player or other.

Wait till we get the 48 team World Cup. Loads and loads of meaningless matches no one but the two sides involved care about. I'd happilly go back to sixteen teams as it was in 1966. Every match meant something.

I find it very strange. I'm a life-long football fan. I freely admit my interest in the overall game has declined significantly. The more money the less interested I've become.

Match day will still find me at Ewood with at least one of my sons. We're season ticket holders and attend every home match plus some local away games. I can honestly say I have never failed to be at an important match wherever it was. A relegation, promotion, a Cup to be won or lost. I queued outside Ewood for 24 hours to get tickets for Liverpool away in 1995. One of only 3000 to be there on the great day.

Yet FIFA do nothing to entice me to watch the CWC. It's costing $1bn in prize money plus all associated match costs. Someone, somewhere thinks this is value for money. So just who are FIFA trying to attract?

Very odd indeed.

And the complaints about players suffering burnout and injuries from too many games are continuing to mount. It doesn't make sense.

Be 64 teams before long if FIFA can make money out of it

I tried to tag him to highlight his hooliganism, but it didn't work. Might be a browser issue.

I had problems signing in after asking the CC mods to let me sign in on my new phone, which I couldn't do myself. We had a few problems with my registered email address, but it's all sorted out now! :okay:

It's not exactly new, but I agree with you completely.

Nice to see Mamelodi Sundowns in there though, I went through a phase of buying random kits and I had one of theirs which was rather lovely.
