I have never really understood the general animosity towards Robbie Savage. Obviously I don't know him but he has always come across on tv as a pretty decent bloke. I suspect part of it is a lot of people thought he rated himself too highly as a footballer, but to be fair anyone that plays over 500 league games has had a pretty stellar career IMO.

We loved him at Ewood. Excellent footballer and a very decent man. I've never understood what people had/have against him.

England always seem to do pretty well at youth levels and play some pretty decent stuff. Be a formidable force if they could translate that to the senior side.

I'd say Gareth Southgate pretty much did exactly that! WC semi and two Euro finals is a bloody great return for 8 years of management. Didn't quite win a trophy but don't forget it was Southgate who laid the foundations for the U19, U21 to senior pathway before he became England men's manager.

It was probably the diving and simulation to get players sent off, including Justin Edinburgh in a league cup final

Agreed. The flak he took as England manager was absolutely ridiculous, says a lot about him that he tolerated it with good grace and for as long as he did.

He's a wind up merchant and a lot of people get suckered into it.

On a 606 years ago (before it got a bit sh!t after Alan Green left) he absolutely ruined a guy who'd called in claiming he'd seen Robbie make a small boy go into a shoe shop to collect his shopping. Strung the guy along for a good couple of minutes before saying,

"Couldn't have been me mate, my sponsor sends me my shoes."

And hanging up.

Yes, he's definitely a wind up man on and off the pitch. It was the on pitch antics that was so effective.

Wind up telephone caller gets caught out by wind up pundit. Hoisted by his own petard!! 🤣

Breaking news, Diogo Jota of Liverpool killed in a car crash with his brother. Sounds very nasty

Anyone watching the women's Euros? There's been some great footy so far. Spain look favourites by a mile now, they're really ticking.

As an Arsenal fan, I enjoy playing "how many have played for us?" during the matches. About half the Netherlands squad for starters...

Here's a nice article on England's teenage talent, hopefully coming through as an impact sub now, Michelle Agyemang https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...le-agyemang-in-a-hurry-to-make-euro-25-impact
