The rules now state it should only be a penalty if they arm is moved away from the body to make it "unnaturally bigger". If the act is not deliberate and the position of the arm does not make the players body unnaturally bigger it is not a penalty even if it prevents a goal. The Palace decision should not have been given as a penalty. Can't help but feel the ref was talked into it by VAR.

Interesting there was the same incident the day before at Man City. VAR stepped in when the ref said no pen. After review he upheld his decision of no penalty, which was totally correct.

Reading that, the Chelsea penalty decision was a bad un then!😉

Thats the current rule. Use to be a red even if accidental.

It ha never been a red if accidental unless it prevented a goal being scored.

Todd Cantwell, Rovers captain after Saturday's game:

"Don't like to say normally but the pitch wasn't up to standard for a game in the league today. Really difficult conditions to try and play football on."

He's right and we do need a new pitch. It's a reason for our poor form but shouldn't distract from the fact under Ismael we have won only 4 of 21 home league and cup games.

We don't have a coach. We have a charlatan in charge.

Modern day football. Money buys success.
I fully expect 2 of those 8 to be out next round and the usual suspects to play out the quarterfinals.

It wasn't the winner but it was the goal that gave them the goal difference to get into the playoffs.

Yeah, I love that kind of stuff. I kind of wish I'd watched that game, but geographic loyalty meant I was watching the Toon game, which was pretty good, although the ref was very poor.

Yes, there are some good teams in the playoffs.

But they will have had to play two extra matches each to reach the last 16. Don't know how much difference that might make.

All 6 English clubs are still in it, with Newcastle in the playoffs.
