I think there is a difference between doing that when you are in a foreign country for a tournament being held there, and doing similar in the UK, or when there is no tournament ongoing.
I don't think it would be seen the way you suggest when that is the situation (as it is in this case).

I notice quite a few English teams who play in blue shirts have fans with a Rangers association. Chelsea, Millwall, Portsmouth and Birmingham being some of them.

I asked him to send photos of his match ticket, match programme etc, but he replied that the tickets are digital and there aren't any match programmes.😕
