Getting ready to listen to the radio 5 Live commentary on the Mexico v Ecuador game, It's been delayed from a 2am kick off to 3am, due to 'adverse weather conditions', as in it's raining heavily. I thought the Aztec Stadium now has a roof on and even if it doesn't, it's only rain ffs!😏

Game of the tournament so far. France are scarily good.

They are. They're also marvellous to watch. Olise was incroyable last night. Mad to think that in a team with Mbappe and Dembele he might be there best player (he was yesterday). This might be as close as we can get to what it must have been like to watch the '58 Brazil of Pele, Garrincha and Didi

My only slight (and it's very slight) concern is that they may peak too soon - happened to Argentina a few years back. But realistically I don't think there's anyone to match them either defensively or in attack. It's lovely free-flowing stuff to watch and whatever happens I hope they continue that approach.

Equador have just had a player sent off for covering his mouth when talking to I presume another team mate.

Lightning.

They didn't mention lightning though, like they did the other night when a game between I cant remember who was delayed due to lightning strikes. No, last night's game seems to have been delayed purely due to heavy rain, though watching the game when it eventually started there wasn't any puddles of water to be seen on the pitch.🤷

Said it when Southgate left, be careful what you wish for. 90% of England fans are genuinely clueless about how hard it is to make even the semis of a major tournament ( as our track record pre GS showed). Most seemed to think we made two Euro finals and a WC semi in spite of Southgate, not because of him and that any Manager that followed would magically win us a World Cup.

I agree. Like West Ham getting rid of Moyes, England made a mistake there.

I thought I'd heard that name before, when England's assistant manager Anthony Barry did a BBC half time interview. He played for Accrington Stanley during our 2005/Conference winning season and had three spells at the club, then was the club's under 16's coach, which was the start of his coaching career.
