Might as well go out now, get the pain over with quickly, as England are clearly not good enough to proceed much further even if they do scrape through.

Picked the wrong tactics and the wrong players to execute them. No urgency, look like a team with no ideas.

Hold your horses....

Said it when Southgate left, be careful what you wish for. 90% of England fans are genuinely clueless about how hard it is to make even the semis of a major tournament ( as our track record pre GS showed). Most seemed to think we made two Euro finals and a WC semi in spite of Southgate, not because of him and that any Manager that followed would magically win us a World Cup.

I'll admit I overestimated the team going into this tournament. I thought they'd be stodgy but organised, not particularly creative but reasonably solid defensively, and when I joked it would be Saka and Rice corners onto Kane's head that would win the world cup I was only half joking.
In reality they've been porous at the back, can't keep hold of the ball and the midfield looks completely disorganised.

I liked Southgate and respect what he achieved - not least changing the culture around the team - but genuinely don't think he could take the team any further. When patience has worn thin you're onto a hiding even when you're doing OK, and it becomes a vicious circle (like the end of the Wenger era at Arsenal - he had to go because enough people wanted him gone, right or wrong). I also think the principle of "try and win this tournament, don't worry about building a team for the future" was correct

Not exactly daylight robbery but that was by the skin of our teeth.
We lack creativity clearly. Madouake was the rare spark.
Gordon is a mystery - what's he got that's worth Barca spunking all that money on him? Rashford, I like, but he was poor. I'm not sure they'd be up to it but I kind of wish Palmer and Foden were here to raise the squad from mundane workers. Bellingham, Rice and Kane are excused.
