Morocco got what they deserved from that game: nothing.

I appreciate that compared to France they are more limited but at least go down fighting, and not with a tame whimper.

I think the half time analysis of they were playing for penalties isn’t far off the mark.
Understandable but poor from a neutral spectator point of view.

Can't argue with the result.

Morocco just weren't good enough but they did have a go. Between half time and the first goal Morocco did has some significant attacking action. However the free kick from the handball summed it up. Possibly the worst free kick shot I can remember tonight.

Quansah two game ban for the red. Very harsh, red and a standard 1 game ban is fair but his leg clearly rolled over the ball causing the high foot, no way was it malicious.

Kane, Rice and Bellingham all on a yellow is a worry, particularly with Clement Turpin as our ref. He is good but he does like to dish out cards to establish his authority.

It doesn't matter if it was malicious, he went flying in with no control, it was a potential leg-breaker. Going over the ball is how Shawcross snapped Ramsey's leg in half. I've got no time for "not that sort of player" and "didn't mean it" talk, anyone that launches in like that deserves the ban.

I have watched it back a few times and personal view is that it was a well timed tackle with the leg riding up simply being a result of getting caught under the ball, it happens. I would argue flying in is malicious in itself and does matter, but I don't believe that is what Quansah did. Understand that others see it differently though.

He's not in control at all, pretty much the first thing a ref will look for in cases like this is whether he's in contact with the ground (sliding) or not (flying). For the most part he's fully in air

At the moment he touches the ball his trailing foot is the only thing in contact with the ground (so potentially able to control his speed/direction), but it's only the side of his toes

This is textbook uncontrolled dangerous play. He's lucky he went into the player's left leg, which was in the air. If he hits a standing leg like that then it's going to snap in half, absolutely no doubt.

If he were a car driver, he'd have just pulled out on you while looking at his phone and then say "Sorry mate, didn't see you"

NTD, we don't disagree on much but we do on this. In real time this is not a dangerous out of control tackle in my opinion. I don't disagree at all it is red but sometimes you get caught under the ball and it looks reckless.

Genuinely don't know what to say to that. He can't possibly be in control because he has almost not contact with the ground that would allow him to change speed/direction. Gobsmacked really, it's a textbook example, whatever speed you watch it

IIRC, 57% of stuttering penalties have been scored, 43% saved or missed.

There are tackles where you go to play the ball, your foot may be raised slightly but not significantly and is still in line to play the ball. Sometimes momentum and the contact with the ball causes it to get stuck or squirm under your feet i.e. "gets caught under your feet" and your foot rides over the top. This is accidental and not caused by being reckless or out of control. In my opinion this is the Quansah tackle.

On the other hand, look at the Konsa tackle against Ghana that was never given as a pen he jumps two footed, leaves tthe ground and scissors the attacker. IMO that was far more reckless and out of control.

He is ex Liverpool and possibly re joining. He is a Warrington lad.
So I am biased.
But his flying tackle was out of order.
