It was all a bit 'handbags' as they say, especially after seeing Accy Stanley manager John Coleman and Barnet manager Paul Allen going full fisticuffs on the way back to the dressing rooms in 2003. It's been pointed out to me that teenagers have never experienced anything other than England being quite good and Germany being rubbish.

Yep. My son, born in 2011 doesn’t remember the 2014 Russian debacle or the loss to Iceland in 2016.

So since 2018 all he known in major champs is semifinal, final, quarterfinal, final, semifinal.

He couldn’t comprehend a situation where England didn’t even qualify for the tournament.
