I have just read that Zenadine Zidane has just been given the job of manager for the French football team with a salary of 450 000 euros PER MONTH including any bonuses. This is obscene and an insult to any football fan, which I am pleased to say, I am not.
The world has gone mad and is not getting any better.

Almost the same as Tuchel is paid, and a lot less than anyone who plays for the team gets, I would imagine.

Not tax payer's money, so not my business

FIFA (Infantino) seem to be flogging a bit of the World Cup off to the Trump extended family, with a promise of loads of dosh to anyone that votes in favour and far less to anyone that votes against. UEFA looking close to taking their ball home over it

Why is that an insult to any football fan?

The top 100 player salaries in the Premier league are all more than that - the 100th is Morgan Gibbs-White on €128,863 per week, which even with 4 weeks per month comes out at over €500K per month (excluding bonuses).

Zidane's salary works out at £4.6 million per year (€5.4 million), and the top 7 premier league managers earn more than that, with David Moyes getting £5 million in 7th place.

I don't feel one can pick out Zidane in this debate, he just happens to be the latest headline. One can't blame Zidane.

Has football sold its soul? Yes. This started in 1992 with the introduction of the Premier League and the failure of the football "authorities," clubs and government to take steps to control spending. Billions are paid into the game simply to leave again in player wages and agent fees. The issue has been there for 30+ years.

Just when we thought football couldn't get any dirtier along comes the FIFA Infantino plan to sleep with Trump, his family and friends and sell off the World Cup to "investors." I'm surprised they didn't add Putin to the cesspit......perhaps in return for leaving Ukraine alone!! 🤣🤣

Modern football stinks and you're right in many ways is obscene and insulting to fans.

Pre-season friendlies......why do they go abroad? eg LFC have travelled to America just to play games against Leeds, Wrexham, Como and (i think) Monaco.
Surely they could play similar teams in the UK and not take players away from thier families.
1st thought was the weather but as we saw in the world cup it can be more unpredictable than the UK.
Any thoughts ?

Money. Simple as that.
Football sold it's soul, as per above.

It's about building the brand, United, as just one example, have done it for years. I'd expect LFC, or any other "big" club, to be paid a fee for taking part, then there are ongoing shirt and other merchandise sales to overseas fans. TV subscriptions, etc. etc.

I can see where this developed from and think the pre-season tour of decades ago was about getting the team together, bedding in new signings, bonding and so on without distractions. All very laudable and hopefully part of a well thought through plan. Today it's about ticket sales and nothing else............Rovers went to Strasbourg last weekend.......................and we've played Accy and Blackpool, alongside others. Not much brand building going on there

So you're not a football fan yet you're so outraged you can't even get the guy's name right and have popped up on here to express your anger?
