Having seen the truncated version which stopped immediately before, the full version the BBC showed was less of an impact than I was expecting. Wonder if there was an underlying undetected issue.

I suspect it is just extremely unlucky.
If you recall Phillip Hughes the Ozzy cricketer.
He was hit by a cricket ball which crushed the main artery to his head.
The guy that bowled the ball still plays and was supported by the cricketing family.
I hope the same happens to the keeper.

That was my take on it.

Indeed, albeit the bowler hadn't committed any "foul" it was just a regular bouncer bowled at Hughes. The chalenge from the keeper, albeit not malicious was in the *reckless camp and he got a red card.

*albeit nowhere near as reckless as Schumacher on Battison, which wasnt punished at all.

Bournemouth remain unbeaten in Europe, another game in which they score three.

They've punched well above their weight since getting promoted. When they got promotion I was working on the new Hilton hotel in the town. There was a lot of pressure to get it built and open before the season started as the feeling was there wasn't much suitable hotel accommodation in the town for visiting Premier League teams (no idea how true that was or if the hotel gets used by visiting teams) but the consensus at the time was those teams wouldn't be visiting for long.

Just watched an excellent Forest team beat Man City 3.1. They worked very hard and deserved the win.

I was at Ewood today to watch an excellent game against West Ham. 7500 travelling fans, more on that later, and the biggest home crowd of the season set things up well. Yes, Rovers won a hard fought game but knowing we have at least one Hammer in here this isn't to gloat.

Kevin Gallacher, Scotland international, PL winner with Rovers and a man with a genuinely illustrious career used the word "fantastic" five or six times to describe WHU in his post match summary. He knows what it takes.

The first 15 minutes we only got a kick to put the ball into touch. Bowen on the right, Austbo and Mayers down the left tormented us. I thought we were in for a pasting. Rovers slowly grew into the game and by HT it was evens. West Ham came out even stronger in the second half, constantly pushing Rovers back. Then came the first of two excellent breakaway goals. Arguably Rovers could have been awarded one, possibly two penalties. The second was a definite from my seat. At 2 - 0 with 12 - 13 minutes to go I had the sick feeling in my stomach. I could see one WHU goal turning into three. Rovers held firm, had a third great chance and ran out 2 - 1 winners in an excellent match.

The difference? Well the stats show West Ham had 65% possession and 21 shots. It didn't feel like 65% but the real reason was of those 15 shots not one was a clear cut chance. For all the good football WHU couldn't carve out a good chance or we stopped them. Rovers had three great opportunities, and took the first two. You pays your money......

The WHU fans? Full marks for 7500 travelling to Ewood. A shame they showed themselves to be ignorant of good football and poured abuse and scorn on their team for the last 20 minutes. Very, very poor in my view. Contrary to the fans view those West Ham players were fit to wear the shirt. They simply got beat in a really good game. It happens.

The buzz in the streets round Ewood as we walked to the car was good to enjoy. Doesn't happen often.
