Hotels (all of Martin & Ian's choices, including the Bellevue in Royan) all booked

Hotel in Royan also booked for Ian and me. And I have edited the long screed above so details of suggested hotels to book are now correct.
As an aside, I have tended to book breakfasts in the hotels, but I am aware that not everyone will want to do that, so am hoping to include a coffee stop mid-morning where
A) calories can be taken on board and
B) a search can be made of patisseries and comparisons made with the one in Brix on the Normandy trip last year.

We've also used the recommendations of mmmmartin et al.
The only outstanding one is for Wednesday night (La Rochelle).
About 3km from the Ibis is an apartment hotel where some of the rooms have washing machines (plus it's cheaper than the Ibis).
We're going to discuss tonight and decide whether being further out is compensated for by the opportunity to do laundry properly.
I think it probably is ........
The price difference would easily pay for taxis if we decided not to walk/ride.

In case I've missed it in the thread, where exactly are we meeting for the start of Le Tour ?
Reason for asking is that we'll probably go over early in the car (as we did last year) and meet you all in Caen.
We'll stay there on the Friday night and, hopefully, leave the car safe at whichever hotel we pick.

Ian and I cross early on the Friday morning, pick up the van and stay in the hotel normandie* near the port. (Otherwise we can't pick up the van early enough to meet riders on the Saturday morning.)
We and the van meet riders at the slipway about 7am as they come off the overnight ferry, luggage goes in van, and we go for coffee to the cafe at The Pegasus Bridge, which is the "iconic structure" so beloved for the start of all Fridays rides by *puts hand on heart, lowers voice* Simon.

Those details are in the "conversation" - you can see my email address for a PayPal remittance, and why you should send it as a personal "gift" so you don't have to pay any charges, or my home address if you want to post a cheque.
Also, @Michael Adu I am guessing you went for those hotels, rather than the ones that Ian and I are in, because they are cheaper - at a rough guess how much cheaper are they? I suspect others would find that info useful.....

Hi mmmmmmmmm - Michael and I did our booking together last night. Where we deviated was because:
a) It was cheaper
b) The Tripadvisor rating was much higher <---key
c) It wasn't far away.
But we thought it best to slum with you on the last night cos I'll need someone to follow ...
